Most heat loss in a Vermont house is air moving, not heat conducting. Spray foam is how you stop the movement, in rim joists, cathedral ceilings and everywhere a batt cannot seal.
Closed cell for rim joists, basements and roof decks
Open cell for interior walls and sound
Cavity fill on new construction
Air sealing around penetrations
Thermal barrier requirements explained
Licensed and certified in VT and NH
How it goes
Find the leaks
We walk the house and mark where air is actually moving before we quote a single board foot.
Mask and protect
Foam sticks to everything. Everything that is not getting sprayed gets covered.
Spray in lifts
Applied in controlled passes so it cures right and reaches its rated R value.
Trim and check
Excess trimmed flush, depth checked, and the site cleaned before the crew leaves.
Questions about spray foam insulation
Closed cell or open cell?
Closed cell gives you more R per inch and acts as a vapour retarder, which is what you want at rim joists and roof decks. Open cell is cheaper, softer and better for interior sound. We tell you which one the assembly actually needs.
Are you licensed for insulation work?
Yes, Horsth Plastering is licensed and certified for insulation in both Vermont and New Hampshire.
When I needed a someone to hang and finish drywall in my new house, Diego was the only one to respond in a timely manner. He was extremely responsive and he scheduled faster than other companies have for my past projects. The communication was solid and the price was more than fair. The quality of finish was on point. I only recommend him to all my contractor friends/customers.

It is rare these days to find a company that I have had such an enthusiastically positive experience with. Diego’s guys are artisans. Watching them work is a ballet of talent. Price is very reasonable for such a great product, esp since our job had a certain amount of complexity involved - 14’ commercial ceilings at ASt Commerce Park. Highly recommend.

Diego and his crew are far and away the easiest sheetrock contractor I’ve worked with. They fit into my schedule, they worked hard and fast to hang and worked cleanly and thoughtfully to mud, tape, and sand. Can’t ask for anything more. I’m bring them in for my next project in Burlington and to work on my own home.
