Norwich has a lot of older homes with original plaster and newer high end builds. We work on both, and the approach is not the same.
Horsth Plastering covers Norwich, Vermont from our base in White River Junction. We handle the whole interior surface, insulation in the cavity, board on the studs, plaster or skim coat over it, and the decorative lime finishes on top.
On older houses here that usually means repair work: cracks, water damage, ceilings that have started to sag, and patches from previous owners that never matched. On new construction and additions it means insulation and walls flat enough that a painter can work with them straight away.
Norwich is farmhouse country, and a lot of those farmhouses have had serious money spent inside them. The older ones are big, with back ells added over a century and lime plaster on wood lath that has moved with the frame. Those walls are rarely flat and they are rarely worth tearing out, so the work is repair: key back what is loose, fill from behind where we can reach it, and skim to a plane that reads right without erasing the house.
The newer builds, and the additions on the back of the old ones, are the opposite job. Insulation, board, flat finish, ready for paint. On a Norwich project we often do both in the same house in the same week. The part that takes the skill is the joint between them, where new work meets a two hundred year old wall and neither one is allowed to give the other away.

When I needed a someone to hang and finish drywall in my new house, Diego was the only one to respond in a timely manner. He was extremely responsive and he scheduled faster than other companies have for my past projects. The communication was solid and the price was more than fair. The quality of finish was on point. It is rare these days to find a company that I have had such an enthusiastically positive experience with. Diego’s guys are artisans. Watching them work is a ballet of talent. Price is very reasonable for such a great product, esp since our job had a certain amount of complexity involved - 14’ commercial ceilings at ASt Commerce Park. Highly recommend.

Diego and his crew are far and away the easiest sheetrock contractor I’ve worked with. They fit into my schedule, they worked hard and fast to hang and worked cleanly and thoughtfully to mud, tape, and sand. Can’t ask for anything more. Yes, and on a Norwich farmhouse that joint is most of the job. We finish the new side to the same plane and the same texture as the old, then feather the transition so side light does not pick out the line.
